MU signs first of its kind MOU with Indian Society of Lighting Engineers

Ghaziabad: Mewar University (MU) signed first of its kind Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian Society of Lighting Engineers (ISLE-LET - UK) on April 13, 2012 at its camp office here. As an outcome of this MoU, MU will now be offering the following programmes:

  • Advanced Certificate in Energy and Lighting Technology
  • Diploma in Energy and Lighting Technology
  • B.Tech-M.Tech (Dual degree credit-based integrated programme) in Energy and Lighting Technology
  • Master of Technology in Energy and Lighting Technology (Full Time as well as Part Time)

These programmes will be offered in two phases: Phase-I and Phase-II as mentioned below:

Phase-I (July 2012 session)

  • Advanced Certificate in Energy and Lighting Technology
  • Diploma in Energy and Lighting Technology

Phase-II (July 2014 session)

  • B.Tech-M.Tech (Dual degree credit-based integrated programme) in Energy and Lighting Technology
  • Master of Technology in Energy and Lighting Technology (Part Time)

The above-mentioned courses will be offered for the first time in India, and MU will be the first university to offer these courses. The electrical engineering students are largely to gain from these courses as a wide gap exists in the lighting industry in terms of trained manpower in this particular field. The lighting industry in India is estimated to have a turnover of Rs. 8,000 crore, and there is a dearth of trained professionals in this technical field. In order to fill this gap, Mewar University joined hands with ISLE –LET -UK to offer these courses. These courses will equip the students with the technical knowhow to handle the problems of the lighting industry and enhance their employability in the market.

Mewar University is a UGC-recognized University in Rajasthan, playing a pioneering role in spreading higher and technical education in the rural areas. Founded in 1984, Indian Society of Lighting Engineers (ISLE) is the apex body of lighting practitioners engaged in the promotion of the Science, Technology and the Art of Lighting in India. Lighting Education Trust (LET) was established in 1995 in the UK as a charitable trust which is a joint undertaking between the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) and the Institution of Lighting Engineers.
